Detectives from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that occurred at a residence in the Sherrelwood neighborhood.
On September 6th, 2020 at approximately 3:15 AM, deputies responded to the 700 block of West 80th Avenue for a disturbance with shots fired. Upon arrival deputies encountered multiple persons running from the scene and vehicles driving away at high rates of speed. Deputies were subsequently flagged down by the occupants of one of the vehicles and observed an adult male in the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the chest. Additional deputies arrived and located another adult male in the backyard of a residence with a gunshot wound to the leg. Both men were transported by EMS to area hospitals for treatment of life threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed that there had been a large gathering at a residence on West 80th Avenue. At approximately 3:15 AM, a physical altercation ensued and at least two male suspects produced handguns and began firing. The ACSO Laboratory and Crime Scene Team responded to the location to process the scene. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses, victims, neighbors and others. This investigation is preliminary and ongoing.
