Congratulations to BVSD Board of Education President Tina Marquis. Last night she received the 2019 McGuffey Award from the Colorado Association of School Boards, virtually during CASB's Fall Regional Meeting.
The McGuffey Award honors unique board members who bring committed and passionate service to their board work. More information is available at: https://www.casb.org/mcguffey-awards
As you may know, Marquis has served on BVSD's Board of Education since 2013 and as president the past three years.
The following is an excerpt from the nomination, submitted by a fellow board member:
"She has a deep understanding of board governance and has led us through these past tumultuous months with a steady hand. She has been a calming presence in the midst of the unknown and many times is the voice of reason. Tina is committed to equity, not only at the board level, but for our entire district. We haven’t met anyone who can analyze complicated data, translate it, and create graphics as well as Tina is able to do. She has led us through our board’s first complete policy analysis and revision. She is a passionate advocate for public education and understands education issues at all levels of government. Tina's ability to see the big picture has been a great asset to our board. Her focus is always on our students and communities, through engagement and transparency. It has been an honor to serve with her."
