TRAFFIC ADVISORY KIPLING STREET AND W. 49TH AVENUE
• Daytime Work: Monday, October 12 to Friday, October 16, from 7:30 am to 5 pm the east side of the intersection at W 49th Avenue and Kipling Street will have limited access.
• Nighttime Work: Sunday, October 11 to Thursday, October 15, from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, motorists can expect various single lane closures with full closures with up to 5 minute delays as crews install new signal poles and mast arms along NB and SB Kipling.
• Detour: Take W. 50th Avenue EB to SB Independence Street, to W. 49th Avenue. This detour is not expected to add any time onto your commute.
Work began to permanently change the intersection at W. 49th Avenue and Kipling Street to install center medians. When work is completed, the intersection will no longer allow for left turning. The signal at W. 49th Ave. will be removed and traffic in all directions will only be allowed a right-in or right-out.
These changes are expected to improve traffic flow and safety along Kipling Street and the westbound I-70 off-ramp with the removal of the congested 49th Avenue traffic signal and construction of a second right turn lane from the westbound I-70 off ramp onto Kipling Street. Once implemented, drivers will be able to make right turns only in and out of 49th Avenue at Kipling Street. A second left turn lane will be added on westbound 50th Avenue to turn south on Kipling Street to accommodate the changes at 49th Avenue.
