Pike National Forest Enters Stage 2 Fire Ban
As of this past Tuesday, the Pike National Forest (including the South Platte Ranger District) will enter into a Stage 2 Fire Ban. This ban prohibits recreational shooting on Pike National Forest lands, with the exception of lawful hunting purposes with a valid hunting license.
Jefferson County is currently in a Stage 2 Fire Ban as well and those restrictions can be found here https://www.jeffco.us/511/Fire-Restrictions-Bans.
“Drought and wind conditions have made the fire danger on these four districts more severe and, as a result, we have implemented Stage 2 fire restrictions,” said Diana M. Trujillo, Forest and Grassland Supervisor. “As the cooler weather sets in, we encourage forest visitors to plan to use alternate ways of staying warm and cooking food while camping and recreating on National Forest System lands.”
